Hello Naija naturals family,
We get a lot of enquiries on hair growth and sparse edges (traction alopecia).
We are happy to recommend products that have active ingredients/ essential oils that have been clinically proven to encourage and aid hair growth.
However, we want our shoppers to know there’s no instant ‘magic in a bottle’ product for hair growth.
Genetics, healthy hair practices, a balanced diet, and consistent use of quality products work hand in hand to ensure your overall hair is healthy.
We have added some topical products at the base of this post to help with stimulating hair growth.
If the follicles are dead you may need more invasive treatments such as a hair transplant, prescribed medication or PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment. The later helps grow/thicken hair by improving the blood flow to the hair follicles.
Please see a board certified doctor for the above treatments not a retailer or unlicensed Trichologist without adequate experience or insurance.
To prevent getting to this stage, here are a few things to help.
- Reduce tension heavy styles like braids, ponytails, cornrows, tight wigs.
- Alternate style parting to ease off tension on a particular area.
- Deep condition, moisturise and oil your hair often to strengthen your hair strands and reduce breakage.
- Keep use of relaxers, heat and wigs to minimal.
- Use safe to use products with spelt out ingredients, and avoid products formulated under unsanitary conditions that can cause fungi infection or breed bacteria.
We hope these tips help you to take more care of your hair and scalp, with more realistic expectations from topical products.
